and a couple of her friends, and while it didn't go as well as I thought, and I got some lousy shots due to still struggling to figure out aperture and shutter speed, I got some decent ones, and it was a lot of fun doing it.

I went to a local anime con in my city (Birmingham) and had a blast. I took a ton of cosplay pictures and did a small photoshoot of model Akiko Stephens, and got permission from model Kimihako Blade to upload the photos I took of her.  Please have a look at those photos and please critique them as to how I can improve. Having seen all the cool photography here on deviantart.(Especially the Cosplay photographers.), I've decided to start learning photography with a Canon SX 160 IS. It's a fixed lens with  a manual option, so I'll be able to experiment with different aperture settings, shutter speeds, and ISO settings. While I know I don't have exactly have the fanciest gear, I'm hoping I can learn enough and take good enough photos, to warrant upgrading to a DSLR when I can afford it. To all my watchers, please give me some good critiques on the photos I'll be uploading in the near future, so I can learn from any mistakes you spot, and can improve.

Man, it's been a while since my last journal entry. I didn't follow through with what I planned. This time though, I'm going to go through with it. While I will be doing some copy drawings, I'm going to try and do a drawing a day, and post some of them here for critiques. Now , I'd like for anyone who comments on my art to not go easy on me. Any comments you make on any of my art,I want you guys to be brutally honest as to where I need to improve.

I'm not that good. Most of what I've done throughout my life is  copy drawings of other people's art or figure drawings. Problem is, I've never really gotten a visual inventory in my mind for proportions and anatomy, as well as a host of other things I should have learned, like how to shade,and moving beyond using just a pencil, learning how to use colored pencils and painting.

I have got to get myself to do some intensive sustained practice, because I sure as hell don't want to be doing crappy sketches when I'm old and in the old folk's home.

I'm going to try to show you folks some original work from here on out. While it might be a drawing of a anime or manga character, it'll be an original drawing, not just another copy drawing.

Wish me luck folks, I'm going to have to bust butt to make up for many many years of slacking off.
